  1. Day 01: Your favourite Värttinä’s song – my decision:
Maahinen neito (from “Iki”), Great, moody, magical song and composition. And wonderful performance by Susan at the 20th anniversary concert in the Savoy, Helsinki, 2003.

  2. Day 02: Värttinä’s song that makes you happy – my decision:
Nahkaruoska (from “Iki”). So much drive and power in this song and the performance by the band at the 25th anniversary concert. Composed by Mari and Johanna.

  3. Day 03: A song from your favorite Värttinä’s album:
My favorite album is “Iki”. – and the song is “Tuulen tunto” !

  4. Day 05: Your favorite Värttinä’s collaboration song:
I like Värttinä’s collaboration (Susan, Johanna, Mari, and Markku) with the Ho Orchestra (by Simon Ho from Switzerland) in the Spoon River Project 2010. Attended in the live performance in Zurich, Sept. 4th, 2010. Fine songs – I choose “Diamandi Viktoria”.

  5. Day 07: First Värttinä’s song that you heard
I first met Värttinä at the Bardentreffen in Nürnberg, July 2001. I don’t remember the setlist and the song Värttinä started. But surely there was “Seelinnikoi”, as always in live gigs in this period of Värttinä!

  6. Day 08: Last one Värttinä’s song you listened
“Utu” was running while traveling by car. Listened the whole CD two times till the end of my trip.

  7. Day 09: Värttinä’s song that describes yourself
Not easy, because so many songs about girls or women.
The one to get closest I think it is “Vaeltaja” from “Utu” – CD.

  8. Day 10: Your favorite Susan’s solo song
All songs Susan singing lead are wonderful and great performances. Therefore all are my favorites. For now I choose “Maahinen Neito” from “Iki” – CD; live performance from the Archive live DVD.

  9. Day 12: Värttinä’s song that makes you think about summer
My choice to this question is: Laiska (from CD “Ilmatar”, 2001
It was the first recording finding Susan as singer in the frontline. And in summer 2001 I first met Värttinä at the Bardentreffen festival in my hometown Nürnberg!

  10. Day 13: Your favorite Mari’s solo song
It’s “Kylä vuotti uutta kuuta”. This song was first recorded on “Musta lindu” (1989), Värttinä’s second album. Second time recorded on “Seleniko” (1992). This version I like most because of slowly fading at the end of the song. It is also found third time on the Archive live DVD, showing the 20Th Aniversary concert at the Savoy in Helsinki, 2003. This I like especially as it is a film where the band is to be seen while wonderful performance!

  11. Day 15: Värttinä’s song that makes you want to dance
Värttinä has so many songs for dancing in the repertoire. For now I choose: Lemmenosto!
It was first released on the “Seleniko” – album, 1992.

  12. Day 16: Your favourite Värttinä’s instrumental song
    That’s my decision: Tantsukolena
Video from the 25th anniversary concert in Tampere, 2008

  13. Day 17: Värttinä’s song that you can play on an instrument/ or you wish you could play
I have learnt to play “Kylä vuotti uutta kuuta” on my banjo.
I like to learn “Maahinen Neito”, my favourite song by Susan Aho, singing lead.

  14. Day 18: Värttinä’s song that has sent chills down your spine
It’s “Maaria” from “Miero” – album, 2006. Because of this moaning and pain feeling mood in Susan’s voice!

  15. Day 19: Your favourite Värttinä’s slow/ ballad song
There are so many to choose in this category. For now I take “Kaihon kontaja” from “Utu” – album, 2012. Johanna singing wonderful lead!

  16. Day 22: Värttinä’s song that you want to hear live
It’s “Vaeltaja” from album “Utu” – Susan singing lead!

  17. Day 24: Your least favourite Värttinä’s song
A decision is too difficult, because in the whole song collection every song is fine and has a special character. When ever to value all these song diamonds, I’m more familiar with the modern Värttinä music till the 1990th years.

  18. Day 25: Värttinä’s song that really inspires you
It’s “Potran Korean” from album “Iki”, words by Timo Kiiskinen, music by Susan Aho.

  19. Day 26: Your favourite Värttinä’s a cappella song
It’s “Aitara” from same called album, but sung by Susan, Johanna, and Mari without the band in 2012.

  20. Day 29: Your favourite song from the last Värttinä’s album
It’s “Vaeltaja”, composed and sung lead by Susan!
