Singing
(Värttinä – “Lasetus”)

1: The nature-maidens three, three singers traveled from the waters, the waters vast,
Uttering the words of wolves of long ago, singing across the lands,
At those witch’s creeks, with maiden knowledge these young ladies, they did begin
To cast a spell so powerful, a song that singers sing.
Songs cast beside the boat, set free above the ripples, the waves of blue,
At those witch’s creeks, with maiden knowledge of every truth.
Manlings try to reach them, with their song-uttering hand and mind,
Alluring the seductresses, coax them quick, these girls they will find…
The seductress, catch the seductress…
Chorus: Singers like singing, oh yes they do,
Singers like singing into the blue,
Song-utterers utter the sacred words,
Song-casters cast spells in this world.
Singers like singing, oh yes they do,
Singers like singing into the blue,
Song-utterers utter the sacred words,
Bright-singers sing songs to the world.
2: A manling rose one day, a stranger from the ancient creek,
The cooer of the moon, a-uttering words, words so sweet,
Making the maidens laugh, making them sing a song of a really special kind,
Manlings try to reach them, with their songs and human minds…
Utterers, here come the utterers…
